Please note: This post was originally published on my Angel Practitioners Blog page, on June 24, 2016. I am sharing it here, because sometimes things cycle through again, and another layer needs to be healed.
I woke up long before 5 am one morning from fuzzy dreams and a feeling I hadn’t had for quite a while: dread. The energy from that week was up and down, swinging from super positive to the polar opposite. Normally, I take these things in stride, but some external factors had caused me to let my ego flare up, instead of staying in my heart space.
Ego. It is what keeps us very human.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell if we’re listening to our ego or our heart, and that’s when the doubts start to creep in. What can we do to get back into our heartspace? Here are 5 things to get you started:
Breathe. This sounds like a no-brainer, but when we are stressed, worried, or panicking, we often start breathing from high in the chest. To help get calm and feel more grounded. Breathe from deep in the belly, slowly, focusing only on the breath. The Archangel Raphael helps with health-related issues, and breathing is not too small a task to ask for help with. Imagine AA Raphael’s beautiful green energy surrounding you, feel it the positive energy flow into your lungs, and the negative flow out on the exhale.
Pray or Meditate. Whichever you resonate with. The act of being in the moment, connecting yourself to the divine, can help pull you back into a positive state of mine. Ask the Archangel Michael to be with you, to help you disconnect from the negative and protect you. Mother Mary is also great to call on, as her beautiful, nurturing energy is soothing and powerful. Close your eyes and imagine you feel them at your side. Tell them what is going on, ask for their help. While you may not hear their answers in words, rest assured that your heart has heard. Follow your intuition, and the signs the angels send.
Do Some Affirmations. Affirmations are something you can speak, read, write, or even listen to. A simple and focused affirmation is best, keeping them short and sweet. “I am happy”, or “My dreams are all coming true”. Following people and pages with inspirational messages on social media can be a great reminder to pause and affirm the positive things in your life. AA’s Gabriel and Chamuel can also help you be more in your heart space and bring you messages of encouragement and positivity. Simply ask them for uplifting messages throughout your day, while you meditate, or even while you’re sleeping.
Write a List. This list is all about you. Write down everything you love (or at least like) about yourself. Make sure you’re including things you enjoy doing, not just “I like my eyes, they’re my best feature!” Add in plenty of adjectives, and even say why you like these things. AA Gabriel is wonderful with helping you bring positive messages to everyone, including yourself. Call on her to help you do this. Additionally, journaling about what is bothering you is a wonderful way to help you work through something.
Connect – with nature, with a friend, with God, the Angels… anyone who believes in you even when you don’t believe in yourself. Don’t put yourself under that metaphorical rock and hide. Get out and socialize, at least a little bit every day. This may simply be chatting with the cashier at the store, or the barista at the coffee shop. Just don’t become a total hermit. Connecting can also mean going for a walk or a hike, getting out where you can breathe the air. Go to the park, sit and people watch, look at the flowers, feed the geese. The important thing is to feel that you are part of something.
Remember that you are human, and it’s okay to have a bad day.
Make it a practice to have something in your “toolbox” to help you get through the rocky bits. But please be understanding and compassionate with yourself when you do hit a roadblock, because it is part of life.
And, let’s face it, life would be boring without those little hiccups, right? Call in your angels, square those shoulders, and tackle those obstacles!
